Supercars and ITM are proud to announce a landmark expansion of their long-standing partnership, with ITM confirmed as the naming rights sponsor for the inaugural Supercars event in Christchurch, New Zealand, in April 2026.

This exciting development means ITM will hold naming rights for both the Christchurch and Taupō events—making it the exclusive naming rights partner of the first-ever New Zealand double header in Supercars history.

The announcement follows confirmation that Supercars will race at Christchurch’s Ruapuna Raceway from 2026 to 2028, marking the championship’s debut on New Zealand’s South Island.

There is also confirmation today that drivers will be competing for the coveted Jason Richards Memorial Trophy using combined points from both the Taupō and Christchurch events.

In 2025, the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy was won by Kiwi youngster and now Repco Bathurst 1000 winner Matt Payne.

Since 2010, ITM has been a cornerstone of Supercars’ New Zealand presence, supporting events in Hamilton, Pukekohe, and now Taupō. The inaugural ITM Taupō Super440 in 2024 drew over 67,000 fans and set a new benchmark for motorsport events in Aotearoa.

Chris Booth, ITM’s General Manager of Sales and Marketing, said:
“We’re thrilled to be the naming rights sponsor for both Taupō and Christchurch. As New Zealand’s largest independent building supply network, we’re present from the Far North to Southland.

“This double header is a monumental moment for motorsport, and we’re proud to stand behind it. Supporting the ITM Christchurch Super440 reflects our commitment to connecting with Kiwis.

“On the job site, in our communities, and trackside. We’re excited to help bring world-class motorsport to more fans and regions.”

Supercars Chief Executive James Warburton said:
“ITM’s commitment to Supercars has helped shape some of the most memorable moments in our New Zealand history.

“Their support of both Taupō and Christchurch ensures fans across both islands will experience world-class racing and unforgettable entertainment.”

The 2026 ITM Supercars double header will kick off in Taupō over the weekend of 10-12 April before heading south to Christchurch from 17-19 April, creating a two-week celebration of motorsport that promises to energise fans, boost local economies, and showcase New Zealand’s passion for racing on the global stage.
