Ayrton Hodson will return to his speedway roots this weekend, making his Australian Sprint Car debut at Toowoomba Speedway with Brodie Tulloch and the team from Tullboro Race Store.

The New Zealand-born racer, now building his name across Australian circuit racing, will take on the clay at Toowoomba in what marks a significant full-circle moment in his motorsport career.
While Hodson is becoming increasingly recognised for his performances on tarmac, including Toyota 86, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, TA2, GT4, Aussie Racing Cars, and Super2, his racing journey began on the dirt.
Hodson first started his speedway career at the age of 12 in Ministocks, spending three years in the class before progressing into Wingless Sprint Cars for one season. At the end of the 2021/22 season, a one-off drive in the Bayspeed 14M Sprint Car proved enough for the team to commit to a full-time Sprint Car campaign with Hodson the following Baypark Speedway season.

In his debut Sprint Car season, Hodson recorded three top-five finishes before going on to claim multiple heat wins and a maiden feature race victory in his second year. Now, after establishing himself as one of the most versatile young drivers to watch across Australasia, Hodson is preparing to make his Australian Sprint Car debut at Toowoomba.
“This is a really cool moment for me,” Hodson said.
“Speedway is where I started, and Sprint Cars have always been a huge part of my journey. I’ve been doing a lot of circuit racing recently, and getting back on the clay and making my Australian Sprint Car debut is something I’m really excited about.
“It’s a strong field, a tough track, and exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy.”
For Hodson, the weekend is not just about returning to his roots, but continuing to build his reputation as an adaptable, high-performing driver capable of jumping between disciplines.
The event will be available to watch live via Clay-Per-View, giving fans across Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to follow Hodson’s Australian Sprint Car debut from home.
Hodson will return to the clay next weekend at Maryborough Speedway before switching back to Aussie Racing Car duties in Tasmania the following week with Chicane Motorsports.
