Lamborghini unveils last naturally aspirated V12-powered models

Lamborghini has unveiled a pair of one-off supercars called the Invencible coupe and Autentica roadster as the final two models to feature the brand’s naturally aspirated V12.

You don’t have to have a finely-tuned ear to instantly recognise the sound of the Italian carmaker’s 6.5-litre 12-cylinder which we sadly have to wave goodbye to thanks to hybridisation.

As a last hoorah, the engine in the Invencible and Autentica will deliver 574kW and 720Nm of torque as it did in the Aventador Ultimae. Power will be fed through an automated seven-speed gearbox, delivering drive to all four wheels.

Both cars are based off the aforementioned Aventador, with each inheriting the model’s carbon fibre monocoque chassis, but have been given newly-designed bodywork which takes inspiration from past models.

Traces of the Sesto Elemento can be found at the rear with regard to its large rear wing, along with other angular elements making their way over from the Reventon and Veneno.

Both models come with arrow-shaped headlights which are somewhat reminiscent of those found on the Sian while its bonnet and front splitter also share a lot in common with the Essenza SCV12 track car.

The rule of three can be found at the rear with a set of three hexagonal tail lights flanking the triple exit Inconel-tipped exhaust.

Similar motifs can be found inside thanks to hexagonal 3D-printed air vents. There’s no central infotainment screen as Lamborghini wants the V12 to be enjoyed without interruption.

In terms of specification, the Invencible has been finished in Rosso Efesto red with matching red flakes on the carbon fibre components and red leather in the interior.

On the other hand, the drop-top Autentica features Grigio Titans grey bodywork with details in matt black and a Giallo Auge yellow livery. Similar colours can be found inside with the black leather upholstery being constrasted with yellow stitching.

Although two lucky owners have already bought the last pair of pure V12 engined models from Lamborghini, we wait with anticipation for the brand’s new hybrid supercar which will be revealed in the next few weeks.
