Liam Lawson and Marcus Armstrong have completed a steady day of Formula 2 testing at Barcelona overnight, with the Kiwi duo finishing near the pointy end of the field.
Lawson set the fourth fastest time of the morning session, which would ultimately be enough to leave him fourth on the combined standings.
Armstrong ended up seventh on the overall timesheets, with his best effort also set in the morning.
Christian Lundgaard topped both sessions over the day.
Heavy fog greeted the field in the morning, which delayed the start of the first session.
Proceedings didn’t fare much better once cars did hit the track after Jehan Daruvala and Oscar Piastri brought two red flags for stoppages.
Lundgaard hit the top of the timing screens just after the hour mark, with Felipe Drugovich one-tenth slower in second.
Drivers soon began to switch their attention to long runs and there was little improvement up and down the paddock.
Lawson’s best time was four-tenths adrift of Lundgaard, while Armstrong was a further tenth back with the seventh best time.
The afternoon saw a similar pattern of drivers having rapid bursts of quick laps before focusing on longer runs.
Lundgaard rocketed to the top spot midway through the session, demoting MP Motorsport test driver Richard Verschoor back to second.
Lawson briefly leapt into P3 before Theo Pourchaire relegated the Kiwi out of the top three.
A swift lap by Armstrong late in the day then pushed his fellow New Zealander back to fifth.
Another day of testing is set to go ahead tomorrow, with the next F2 round slated to be at the Monaco Grand Prix on May 22-24.
