Marcus Armstrong has committed his future to Meyer Shank Racing after signing a multi-year contract extension that will keep the New Zealander with the IndyCar team beyond the 2026 season.

The new deal will also see Armstrong move into the team’s No. 60 Honda from the start of the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season. The seat is currently occupied by Felix Rosenqvist, who will leave Meyer Shank Racing at the end of the year.
Armstrong joined the team in 2025 and has continued to build on his performances over the past two seasons.
His first year with Meyer Shank Racing included 11 top-10 finishes and a podium at Iowa Speedway, the second of his IndyCar career.
That form has carried into 2026. With seven races still to run, the 25-year-old has already recorded five top-10 finishes and was in the fight for victory at this year’s Indianapolis 500. After starting 16th, Armstrong worked his way through the field and was leading on the final-lap restart before eventually finishing fifth in one of the closest finishes in the race’s history.
He also came within touching distance of a maiden IndyCar victory at Road America before a mechanical failure while leading with fewer than four laps remaining brought his race to an early end.
The contract extension reflects the confidence Meyer Shank Racing has in Armstrong as the team looks to build on its recent progress.
“I’m proud to announce a multi-year partnership with MSR,” said Armstrong.
“I want to thank Mike, Jim, Tim and Helio for this opportunity and for believing in me. I feel that Meyer Shank Racing gives me one of the strongest cars on the grid every weekend. Our goals are aligned, we want to win races and be consistently fighting at the front.

“I especially look forward to returning to the Indy 500, having unfinished business from this year. We still have eight races left this season, and we have some strong momentum going. I’m ready more than ever to close out this season on a high note and start prepping for 2027.”
Meyer Shank Racing co-owner Mike Shank said Armstrong has continued to impress since joining the team.
“Since joining the team, Marcus has really shown that he is a top contender, something that is not easy to do in this field. His work ethic, feedback, and determination to improve every weekend make him exactly the kind of driver you want to build around. We’ve seen tremendous growth from him, and we’re excited to continue that journey together starting in 2027.”
With Armstrong moving into the No. 60 car next season, Meyer Shank Racing is yet to confirm who will take over the No. 66 entry. The team says details on its second full-time driver for 2027 will be announced at a later date.
