Motorsport Diary: Kiwis competing abroad this weekend (8/12-10/12)

The run into Christmas has left little action overseas, but there’s still Richie Stanaway in the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi and a seven-strong karting contingent at the Rotax Grand Finals in Bahrain.

It will be Stanaway’s first outing with Grove Racing before he joins them, alongside Adelaide 500 race winner Matt Payne, for the 2024 Supercars season.

Richie Stanaway: Gulf 12 Hours

Richie Stanaway will debut for Grove Racing in the Gulf 12-Hour, sharing the drive of a Porsche 911 GT3 with team owners Stephen and Brenton Grove.

A total of 28 GT3 cars have entered the event at the same venue where Formula 1 concluded their season two weeks ago.

NZ Karting team: Rotax Karting Grand Finals

A seven-strong Karting team from New Zealand are in Bahrain to compete in the week-long Rotax Grand Finals event in Bahrain.

Iver Spence takes to the track in the Micro Max class, while Tommy Hart runs in Mini Max. Miles Baker is competing in Junior Max, Bradley Hewson in Senior Max, Josh Bethune and William Exton in DD2, and Matt Kinsman in the DD2 Masters.
