Shane van Gisbergen continues his NASCAR Cup rookie campaign in Texas, while six Kiwis will be in action at Barber Motorsports Park across IndyCar, Indy NXT, and the Mazda MX-5 Cup.

After a short break, Liam Lawson returns to Formula 1 action this weekend at the Miami Grand Prix, continuing his 2025 campaign with Racing Bulls.
This marks Lawson’s fourth start with the team since rejoining from Round 3 in Japan, and he arrives in Florida off the back of his strongest showing yet in Saudi Arabia. There, the 22-year-old Kiwi advanced to Q2 for the second time this season and qualified a season-best 12th, outqualifying teammate Isack Hadjar in the process. He backed that up with a strong race, crossing the line in 11th before a post-race time penalty dropped him to 12th in the final classification.
With momentum on his side, Lawson now turns his attention to the Miami International Autodrome — a fast and technical street circuit built around the city’s Hard Rock Stadium. Having never raced at the venue before, he’ll be aiming to get up to speed quickly across a compressed Sprint weekend format. With just one practice session before Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint Race, there’s little room for error — but it’s another valuable chance for the Kiwi to impress on the world stage.
He’ll hit the track for Free Practice early Saturday morning (NZT), with Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint Race, and Grand Prix to follow across the weekend.
Shane Van Gisbergen: NASCAR Cup Series

- Where? Texas Motor Speedway, Texas.

Shane van Gisbergen returns to NASCAR Cup Series action this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, piloting the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Kaulig Racing.
The Kiwi was firmly in the mix at Talladega last weekend, running inside the top 15 before a late-race penalty dropped him down the order. It was a frustrating end to what had been a promising run — a snapshot of a rookie campaign that’s shown flashes of pace while navigating the steep learning curve of full-time oval racing.
While this will be van Gisbergen’s first Cup Series start at Texas, the Kiwi is no stranger to the 1.5-mile quad-oval. He raced there in the Xfinity Series last year, recovering from an early spin to finish 18th in a chaotic overtime finish — a drive that showcased his trademark resilience and growing comfort on ovals.
SVG will hit the track for practice and qualifying on Sunday morning (NZT), with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 set to go green early Monday morning for Kiwi fans.

The Kiwi contingent returns to action this weekend in Alabama, with Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin, and Marcus Armstrong all set to contest Round 4 of the 2025 IndyCar Series at Barber Motorsports Park.
At the previous round in Long Beach, all three drivers delivered noteworthy performances. McLaughlin advanced to the Firestone Fast Six in qualifying and secured a solid sixth-place finish. Dixon, despite a challenging qualifying session, climbed to eighth by race end. Armstrong also reached the Fast 12 in qualifying but was hampered by pit stop issues during the race, ultimately finishing 14th.
Since then, the trio took part in the Indy 500 Open Test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. McLaughlin topped the speed charts with a lap of 232.686 mph, showcasing impressive pace. Dixon led the opening day and ended sixth overall, while Armstrong was 17th fastest, leading the charge for Meyer Shank Racing.
They now return to road course racing at Barber Motorsports Park — a flowing 2.3-mile circuit that has historically suited the Kiwis well. McLaughlin claimed victory here in 2023 and 2024, while Dixon will be looking to add another strong result to his vast record. Armstrong, now in his second full-time season, continues to build momentum and will look to make further strides this weekend.
The Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix is scheduled for Monday morning (NZT), with coverage available on Sky Sport and the INDYCAR Live App.

Two rising Kiwi talents, Callum Hedge and Liam Sceats, are set to take on Barber Motorsports Park this weekend in Round 2 of the 2025 Indy NXT by Firestone season.
Hedge, in his second season, has joined Abel Motorsports after an impressive rookie campaign with HMD Motorsports, where he finished fourth overall and scored a podium in Detroit. He opened his 2025 season with a solid eighth-place finish at St. Petersburg and has been actively testing ahead of this weekend’s event. Barber is a venue he knows well — he finished ninth there last year and will be looking to build on that as he pushes toward more consistent top-five results.
Sceats, the 2024 New Zealand Grand Prix winner, returns to the grid with HMD Motorsports after securing a two-race deal that includes Barber and the Indianapolis Road Course. He impressed on debut at St. Petersburg, qualifying fifth before an unfortunate race-ending incident. Since then, he’s worked tirelessly to stay on the grid — hosting fundraising events back home in New Zealand and rallying support from fans and sponsors alike to keep his international campaign alive.
The Indy NXT race at Barber is scheduled for Monday morning (NZT), with coverage available on Sky Sport and the INDYCAR Live App.

New Zealand’s electric duo, Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans, return to the iconic streets of Monte Carlo this weekend for Rounds 6 and 7 of the 2024–25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
The Jaguar TCS Racing teammates dominated last year’s Monaco E-Prix, securing a 1–2 finish — Evans taking the win with Cassidy close behind. Their strategic teamwork was pivotal, with Evans crediting Cassidy’s unselfish driving for the victory.
This season, however, has presented challenges. Cassidy currently sits 18th in the standings with just 10 points, having struggled to find consistent form. Evans opened the campaign with a storming win in São Paulo from the back of the grid, but results since have been mixed, and he enters the weekend sitting 10th in the championship.
Monaco has long been a highlight on the Formula E calendar, and the team will be hoping a return to familiar territory sparks a turnaround in form. With both Kiwis capable of contending at the front, don’t be surprised if they’re in the thick of the action once again on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Ryan Yardley & Madeline Stewart: Porsche Carrera Cup North America

- Where? Miami International Autodrome, Florida.
- NZ Times:

Two of New Zealand’s rising GT talents, Ryan Yardley and Madeline Stewart, are set to compete at the Miami International Autodrome this weekend as Porsche Carrera Cup North America supports the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Yardley enters the weekend second in the Pro class standings after a strong start to his 2025 campaign. The Topp Racing driver secured back-to-back second-place finishes at Sebring, showcasing his consistency and competitiveness. Building on his 2024 season, where he achieved 10 podiums and 14 top-ten finishes, Yardley aims to continue his momentum in Miami.
Stewart, representing JDX Racing, returns to action after an unfortunate incident during qualifying at Sebring, which prevented her from starting the races. Now in her second season in the series, she looks to rebound and capitalize on her experience from last year, where she finished 15th overall and scored points in six of the final eight races.
Both drivers will be aiming for strong performances on the challenging Miami street circuit, with Yardley looking to maintain his championship contention and Stewart seeking to kickstart her season.

Cruse, driving for JTR Motorsports Engineering, continues his development in one of the most competitive one-make series in North America. After a challenging debut in Race 1 at Daytona, he bounced back with a strong run to 14th in Race 2 — still his best finish of the season so far. He followed that up with 28th and 24th-place results at Sebring as he continues to gain valuable experience in the tightly packed field.
Barber will be a new challenge for the young Kiwi, but with each outing, he’s growing more confident behind the wheel. Cruse is one of six New Zealanders competing at Barber this weekend across multiple categories, adding to the strong Kiwi presence in Alabama.
