Kiwi driver Nick Cassidy has been confirmed as one of the star signings for Citroën Racing as the French marque prepares to make its long-awaited debut in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
The 2025/26 campaign will see Cassidy line up alongside double champion Jean-Éric Vergne in what promises to be one of the most exciting new team entries in recent years.

For Cassidy, the move comes at a pivotal moment in his career. After parting ways with Jaguar TCS Racing at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, the 30-year-old has committed to a dual programme for 2026.
Alongside his Formula E duties, he will also compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Peugeot, meaning he will represent both Citroën and Peugeot across two top-tier motorsport disciplines.
The New Zealander brings with him an impressive record in Formula E, having scored 10 race wins and 20 podiums across his career to date. Cassidy twice came close to the world title, finishing runner-up in 2022/23 and securing third place in 2023/24.
His consistency and racecraft have cemented his reputation as one of the series’ most formidable competitors, making him a major asset to Citroën’s new project.
Joining Cassidy is Formula E veteran Jean-Éric Vergne, who moves from DS PENSKE after an eight-season run with the DS brand. Vergne is the only driver in Formula E history to win back-to-back championships.
With 144 consecutive starts, he holds the record for most appearances in the all-electric series.
The Frenchman has also enjoyed success outside Formula E, competing in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso and currently racing in the World Endurance Championship for Peugeot.
Citroën’s entry into Formula E marks the brand’s return to international motorsport, where it has already built a remarkable legacy.
The manufacturer has claimed titles across a wide spectrum of disciplines: nine FIA World Rally Championship drivers’ crowns with Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena, eight WRC manufacturers’ championships, three WTCC drivers’ titles, three WTCC teams’ championships, Dakar victories, and multiple triumphs in cross-country rallying.
Speaking about its latest challenge, Citroën described Formula E as “an electric, innovative and passionate adventure that embodies our values and our vision for the mobility of tomorrow. Motorsport shaped our history, and Formula E represents its most visionary form – 100% electric, responsible, and connected, with spectacular races held in the world’s great cities.”
All teams, including the newcomers from Citroën Racing, will get their first taste of Season 12 machinery during pre-season testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia between October 27–30. The 2025/26 championship officially gets underway in São Paulo on December 6.
