A competitor has been transported to hospital in a critical condition after suffering a medical event during a race at the NZIGP Waikato Challenge event at Hampton Downs on Sunday 23 November.
The competitor pulled off to the side of the track and responders were on the scene immediately. The remainder of the event has been cancelled.
“Our thoughts and best wishes are with the competitor and their family at this time,” said MotorSport New Zealand President, Deborah Day.
MotorSport New Zealand will make no further comment at this time and asks that the privacy of the competitor and their family be respected.
