Simon Evans claimed the Toyota 86 pole position for races one and three at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.

This morning’s 20 minute qualifying session set the grid for races one and three this weekend, with each drivers fastest time setting the race one grid, while their second-fastest time set the order for race three.

Evans was on the pace early in the session setting a 1 minute 18-second lap on his second fast lap around the circuit, Evans went another tenth faster a few laps later to set a time that would stand for the remainder of the session.

The two laps would secure the championship leader pole position for races one and three.

Matthew McCutcheon spent much of the session sitting second on the timesheets within two-hundredths of a second of Evans before a late lap set by Rowan Shepheard dropped McCutcheon to third.

McCutcheon will start race one from the second row of the grid alongside Hugo Allen, while Justin Allen and John Penny will start from row three. Dion Pitt and Brock Gilchrist will start on row four while Clay Osborne and Evans’ teammate Marco Giltrap will round out the top ten for race one starting on the fifth row of the grid.

Rianna O’Meara-Hunt was unable to make it out for this mornings qualifying session after her car suffered damage in yesterdays practise sessions, while Christina Orr-West will start from the back of the grid after her car failed a ride height check.

The grid for race two will see the top ten finishers from race one reversed, while the race four grid will be based on the points each driver has accumulated through the weekend.

Race one will be held at 1.26 pm this afternoon with race 2 starting at 4.45 pm, before the final two races on Sunday.
