Supercars to hold four back to back events

The revised Supercars calendar has been released and will see the series racing under lights when it gets back underway in October.

The new schedule will see the series head to Sydney Motorsport Park for four back to back events before going to Bathurst for the final round of the championship.

The venue which also held the restart of the 2020 season will hold the first championship round since the series visited Townsville in July.

The new events will be held as follows:

Friday 29th – Sunday 31st October

Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th November

Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th November

Friday 19th – Sunday 21st November

The venue has a number of different track layouts that will be used, as well as the permanent lights which will allow the series to hold night racing.

Fans will also see the series using different racing formats across the events.

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said it’s fitting to restart the series at the same track as they did last season.

“It is fitting that we return to racing at Sydney Motorsport Park, as we did in 2020. Those first races produced some of the best entertainment in years, and this time will be no different,” Seamer said.

“The venue is world-class and under its new permanent lighting makes for spectacular viewing for fans at the circuit and watching at home.

“First and foremost, we are happy to be back, but we will make sure we use everything that SMSP has to offer to put on the best possible show.

“We look forward to seeing fans at all five events and will have details on those availabilities over coming weeks.

“I would like to personally thank Minister Ayres, Destination New South Wales, and of course Glenn and his time at the ARDC for everything they’ve done to make this happen.”

Glenn Matthews the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club CEO added: “The Australian Racing Drivers’ Club is proud to co-drive alongside Supercars this history-making month-long racing showcase at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“Sydney Motorsport Park is a proven big event venue and is ready for this exciting challenge across four consecutive rounds.

“The ARDC thanks the many valued event and experience partners who have made way for this unique series of races to occur.”
