Tony Quinn health update following Townsville accident

Racing driver Tony Quinn is in the care of hospital staff in Australia following a high-speed accident in Townsville last Saturday.

Quinn suffered several broken bones and a punctured lung as a result of a crash during race one of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup.

A statement was released earlier today from Quinn’s family today regarding his health status.

“The hospital team is doing a fantastic job, and the priority at the moment is to ensure TQ allows his body to rest after the trauma to his body. He is stable and is aware of the outpouring of concern for him and he is humbled.”

“His family wishes to thank you all for the messages of support and concern. Their focus is on TQ and as such, we ask that if you want to get a message to them or TQ – please either post your message below [Facebook post] or private message us on this page [Facebook page] and we will ensure he gets them all.”

“You’ll appreciate that he’s made a lot of friends over the years, and it’s becoming a bit overwhelming for them as they are receiving hundreds of messages.”

“We will keep you posted on his progress on his Tony Quinn Facebook page as and when it’s appropriate. For now, the family and TQ just need some space and privacy to focus on his recovery, which also means please no visitors to the hospital.”

“They are immensely grateful for the outpouring of concern and best wishes. Thank you all.”

Quinn’s partner Kate and three kids are by his side, supporting one another.

Prior to Quinn’s incident, he attended the Australian Superbikes (ASBK) race at the recently revamped Queensland Raceway in March.

It was the first major event back at the track in eight years after Quinn took ownership and invested in the raceway’s renovation.

Quinn became the owner of Queensland Raceway last year when he made a deal with operator John Tetley.

Extensive work has been put into getting the circuit up to scratch courtesy of Quinn’s efforts and investment.

The Australian circuit joins the likes of Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Highlands Motorsport Park and Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park back home in New Zealand under Quinn’s ownership.

We wish Tony Quinn a speedy recovery and that he’s back doing what he does best in no time!
