Cam Waters has claimed pole position for this evenings Race 27 of the Supercar season, a 1.01.998 giving him top spot in the Elimination Qualifying session. The only driver to go under 1.02, Waters left it late to set his best lap with it coming at the end of the session.

Will Davison, who has been the best qualifier this season with eight poles, was second best today, .07 of a second off the Tickford Mustang. Chaz Mostert qualified his Commodore third fastest, to be the fastest Holden of the session.

Anton de Pasquale will start directly behind teammate Davison from fourth, whilst Andre Heimgartner is the best placed Kiwi starting fifth.

Runaway championship leader, and event favorite, Shane van Gisbergen could only manage the seventh fastest time, a 1.02.335 seeing him miss out by .337 of a second.

Eight of the championship top 10 made it into the third section of qualifying today, although eighth place Brodie Kostecki could only manage the 20th fastest time in Q2. David Reynolds was the other driver from the 10 who failed to make the final stage of qualifying, seeing him start 14th.

Kostecki is having a difficult afternoon, massive contact with the wall entering the main straight in practice earlier today causing significant damage to the rear of his car.

The surprise performance of qualifying came from James Golding, who put in the ninth fastest time.

With a massive crowd on hand at Pukekohe today, Heimgartner and van Gisbergen will have a busy afternoon if they are to claim top spot come race time, with Race 27 getting underway at 4.40pm, covering 41 laps.
