Rick Armstrong has won the second round of the GT New Zealand Championship over the weekend at Teretonga, while Glen Chappel and young Australian driver Lachlan Evernnett won in GT4.

Backing up his win on Saturday, Armstrong clinched a second and a third to take the round win. While Evernnett won his 30-min race and then combined with Chappel to win the 50-minute feature, giving the duo enough points to win the GT4 round.
Armstrong now takes the lead of the Championship with 456.5 points, from Luke Manson on 424.5 and Nigel Cromie on 424 – all in Porsche 992 machinery.
Joel Giddy, in a Mercedes-AMG GT2, has slipped from first in the championship coming into round two and is now fourth on 419.5. The AMG driver is struggling in qualifying, starting further down the field and having to fight back to challenge for wins and podiums.
Glen Chappel has taken the lead of GT4 with 480.5 points from Grant Aitken on 466.5, with Alan Sargeant on 325.5.
Sunday’s racing saw yet more rain hit the Teretonga circuit, and with other categories struggling to get consistent green-flag running, all of the GT New Zealand races were cut short.
Luke Manson won the Sunday morning race, with Lachlan Evernnett winning the GT4 class.
As the afternoon progressed and the 50-minute feature race began, the skies cleared, the track dried, and competitors were able to fit slick tyres to their GT machines.
Nigel Cromie held on for a race win, while the duo of Evernnett and Chappel took a win in GT4.

The GT New Zealand Championship now heads to the Highlands circuit at Cromwell this coming weekend for round three. Competitors will again tackle two 30-minute races and a 50-minute feature race.
