The Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation is accelerating into 2026, continuing its mission to nurture and support New Zealand’s next generation of racing stars.
Founded by Wolfbrook Director Steve Brooks, the Foundation removes financial barriers for emerging drivers by providing a Toyota 86 race car and $50,000 in funding to compete in the Bridgestone Toyota 86 Championship.
The Foundation is proud to announce Lucas McGill as the 2025/26 scholarship winner. The talented young driver will receive $50,000 towards his campaign, along with a Toyota 86 to compete in the Bridgestone Toyota 86 Championship.

McGill’s scholarship win comes just days after another major achievement, victory in the prestigious Tony Quinn Foundation Shootout, which earned him a $54,000 support package for the same championship.
With the combined backing of both programmes, McGill heads into the season with one of the most comprehensive support packages ever seen for a young Kiwi driver in the category.
By providing funding and access to top-tier machinery, the Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation continues to deliver a genuine pathway for aspiring racers to prove themselves against the country’s best.
At the end of 2024, Blake Knowles, the 2023/24 New Zealand Formula Ford Champion, was announced as the recipient of the 2024/25 scholarship. Knowles has since gone on to build his career further after clinching his Formula Ford crown in front of a sell-out crowd at the ITM Taupo Super400, and impressing in the South Island Endurance Series.
The initiative continues to have the backing of respected motorsport figures, including Walkinshaw Andretti United Supercars driver and former Toyota 86 Champion Ryan Wood, as well as James Marshall, owner of James Marshall Motorsport.
Their involvement reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to opening doors for promising Kiwi drivers.

Brooks, who launched Wolfbrook Motorsport in 2022, has steadily grown his own presence on the track, racing Porsche GT3 Cup Cars in SIERDC and NIERDC before adding an Audi R8 GT3 EVO2 to his garage in 2023.
Last year, he contested events including the GT World Challenge Australia and the Bathurst 6 Hour, while also supporting rising talents such as Ryan Wood and Ronan Murphy. Wood now co-drives with Brooks in the 2025 GT World Challenge Australia Series.
With the Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation now in full swing, Brooks is determined to create a clear and well-supported pathway for the next wave of New Zealand racing talent.
