Another win for Anton de Pasquale, SVG takes third

Anton de Pasquale has taken another race win at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The race got off to a clean start, with both Shell V-Power cars getting off the line well before the pair fought to take the lead.

The battle for the lead between the two picked up again after the pit stops, which saw Davison take the lead with an undercut before de Pasquale regained the lead a few laps later.

The margin between Davison and De Pasquale has diminished massively!

“Our car was really good that race so I had fun, but we’ll try and do something this [afternoon], I don’t think we’ve got many tyres left but we’ll make something work,” de Pasquale said after the race.

“Obviously this is a happy hunting ground for us at the moment, so well keep that going, there’s three more races here”

Shane van Gisbbergen was forced to start eighth after receiving a three grid spot penalty for impeding Jack Le Brocq in qualifying.

Jamie Whincup, Davison, and Chaz Mostert had a battle late in the race that allowed van Gisbergen to close up to the trio.

Despite starting further back ‘SVG’ gained five places to finish the race in third, racing Mostert across the line to take the podium spot. Ultimately Whincup finished second, while Davison crossed the line in fifth.

A tough day for Heimgartner got worse before the race even started, the team not heading out on the grid with the rest of the field, as the team were still working on making changes to the car.

Though the team got the car out in time to take his grid spot, they weren’t confident they put enough fuel in the car to make it through the race.

Despite the pre-race drama, the Kiwi made a strong start to the race gaining four spots in the first few laps, before finishing in 16th.

After a tough qualifying session that saw him start from last Fabian Coulthard gained six places to finish in 18th.
