IndyCar 2023 calendar announced

The 2023 IndyCar calendar has this week been revealed by the NTT IndyCar Series and will feature 17 races across 15 tracks beginning in March through until early September. A new addition to 2023 sees the field take to the Streets of Detroit in June, as well as two outings over the season on the Indianapolis Road Course and a double header in Iowa.

A full calendar can be found at the bottom of this article.

Kiwis Scott Dixon and Scott McLaughlin will be among the pre-season favourites heading into the campaign, both drivers challenging for the 2022 title right until the closing stages earlier this month

The season will begin once again on the Streets of St. Petersburg on March 5, a race won by McLaughlin this year, before heading to Texas Motor Speedway for the first oval a month later on April 2.

A busy April will see the third round just two weeks later on the Streets of Long Beach, followed two weeks later by an event at Barber.

From here, the field will head to Indianapolis, first on the Road Course and then for the prestigious 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 28.

The very next week after the Indy 500 the field will head to Detroit for the new Streets of Detroit Grand Prix, a 1.7 mile, 10-turn circuit which should promote some fast, close racing as drivers familiarise themselves with the circuit.

Following this, the series heads to Road America, Mid-Ohio and Toronto respectively before the two-race double-header in Iowa on July 22 and 23.

The Streets of Nashville return for Round 13, followed by a second trip to the Road Course at Indianapolis and the final oval of the year at the World Wide Technology Raceway on August 27.

Portland once again acts as the penultimate round of the season whilst WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca closes out the 2023 campaign on September 10.
