Jaxon Evans confirmed for Bathurst 1000, Sandown 500

Brad Jones Racing has announced their co-driver lineup for this season’s two endurance races, with New Zealander Jaxon Evans again included in the mix.

Evans will partner Jack Smith for the Sandown 500 on September 15-17 before returning to Bathurst over October 5-8.

Smith and Evans also combined for the 2022 Bathurst 1000 and had looked set for a strong result despite Evans running into trouble in the famous Lap 1 crash on Mountain Straight. The two returned to action and ran 13th when Smith came unstuck with 24 laps remaining.

“I’m really excited to be heading back to the Supercars Championship alongside Jack and the SCT Logistics crew,” Evans said.

“Last year’s event was a massive learning curve and a career goal that I was able to tick off.

“The addition of the Sandown 500 hopefully means that, with a little more seat time, we will go to the mountain with some confidence.”

BJR’s co-driver announcement also confirmed Dale Wood would return to partner Andre Heimgartner. The duo had looked strong last year, only for Wood to be left in tears when a re-joining Zane Goddard entered the racing line, leaving him nowhere to go.

“Andre is in great form, and am equally excited to jump in the R&J Batteries Gen3 Camaro. It is great Sandown is back on the enduro calendar, and I think it gives us a great lead-up to Bathurst,” said Wood.

Brad Jones Racing’s other co-drivers include Dean Fiore partnering with Bryce Fullwood, and Jordan Boys combining with Macauley Jones, making for an unchanged lineup from 2022.

Just four co-driver spots remain on the grid for this year’s Great Race, being for theNulon Racing entries as well as Cameron Hill and Todd Hazelwood.
