GT World Challenge Australia returns to action this weekend with Sydney Motorsport Park to host the second round of the 2025 season.

There will be no shortage of star power on display, with a packed schedule headlined by Saturday night’s hour-long race – a spectacle not to be missed.

The opening round at Phillip Island highlighted just how close the title fight will be this season across both the Pro-Am and Am classes, with Sydney’s unpredictable nature always promising mixed results.

The rivalry between Arise Racing GT and Melbourne Performance Centre reignited at Phillip Island, with each outfit claiming a race win. However, Volante Rosso Motorsport’s Aston Martin made its intentions clear after two strong performances.

Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte took the opening race win of the season in the Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3 to leave Phillip Island leading the standings.

Splitting the Ferrari-Audi battle is reigning champion Liam Talbot who’s two stirring drives alongside Declan Fraser at Phillip Island elevated the Volante Rosso Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 into second place overall.

Team MPC’s Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher sit third in the standings after winning the second race of the weekend. Schumacher will return to Sydney targeting redemption after crashing out during last year’s Top 10 Shootout, which forced his Audi out of the main event.

Brendon Leitch and Tim Miles remain firmly in the hunt. They sit fourth in the standings aboard the Team MPC Audi and will aim to close the gap in Sydney.

The Pro-Am Audi attack is bolstered by Wolfbrook Team MPC’s Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks, while the Team BRM entry for Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser is looking to bounce back after a challenging opening round.

The second Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3 for Jordan Love and Stephen Wyatt continues its campaign after they produced a solid debut outing together in Phillip Island.

Adding further Italian flair to the entry list, Wall Racing will aim to build on their Phillip Island performance with Tony D’Alberto and Adrian Deitz behind the wheel of the team’s ever-popular Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2.

Tigani Motorsport expands its efforts to four entries as it continues to lead the Mercedes-AMG charge. Factory ace Jayden Ojeda, fresh off a podium at Suzuka, returns to Sydney aiming to replicate last year’s victory alongside Paul Lucchitti.

International driver George King displayed he is on the pace at Phillip Island, while Sergio Pires will be eager to taste success on home turf in the Geyer Valmont Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Pires’ former Am Cup partner Marcel Zalloua also returns, sharing a second Geyer Valmont Racing entry alongside Supercars contender Thomas Randle.

Reigning runners-up in Am Class, brothers James and Theo Koundouris complete the Tigani Motorsport line-up in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.

Renee Gracie, in the MPC Audi, will lead the charge against the Koundouris entry, fresh from her Am Class race victory at Phillip Island.

The other entry to claim a victory at the Island was the Black Wolf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Ben Schoots and Shane Woodman, setting the stage for an equally fierce Am Cup battle in Sydney.

Matt Stoupas and Gary Higgon are making a welcome return to the category. They will pilot the MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo I in the Trophy Class.

GT World Challenge Australia will feature two practice and pre-qualifying sessions of one hour each on Friday. The two 15-minute qualifying sessions follow on Saturday prior to the grid walk and opening one-hour race under lights. Sunday’s final one-hour event caps off what is sure to be a spectacular second round.

Round 2 of GT World Challenge Australia will headline the Shannons SpeedSeries at Sydney Motorsport Park from May 2 to 4.
