Kiwi Liam Sceats and Polish co-driver Gustaw Wiśniewski delivered a commanding victory in the opening Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia race at Monza, closing in on the Pro championship lead by just one point with a single race remaining.

Fellow Kiwi Chris van der Drift also enjoyed another successful outing alongside Todd Kingsford, claiming the Pro-Am class victory and third place overall to extend their remarkable unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive races.
It was an impressive start to the final round of the Asian championship for the VSR team, with both cars locking out the front row of the grid. Sceats and Wiśniewski secured pole position by more than four-tenths of a second, with van der Drift and Kingsford qualifying second overall and on pole in the Pro-Am class.
Heading into the weekend, Sceats and Wiśniewski trailed Pro championship leaders William Tregurtha and Jonathan Cecotto by six points, knowing they needed a strong result to keep their title hopes alive.
Despite never having driven the iconic Italian circuit before, Sceats arrived well prepared, having completed approximately 10 hours of simulator running ahead of the event.
The opening stages were eventful, with two cars running off the circuit and onto the grass at Turn 1. Wiśniewski navigated the opening-lap chaos and took control by Turn 3, while Kingsford dropped to fourth overall but retained the Pro-Am class lead.
By the end of the opening lap, Wiśniewski had already established a 1.8-second advantage over the chasing pack. From there, the Sceats/Wiśniewski pairing delivered a faultless performance, controlled the race, and steadily extended their advantage.
They went on to win by 5.1 seconds over championship rivals Tregurtha and Cecotto, keeping the title fight alive into the final race.
Crucially, Sceats and Wiśniewski also secured pole position for Race 2, earning an additional two championship points through their double-pole performance. Combined with their Race 1 victory, the result has reduced their championship deficit from six points to just one.
With the title now within touching distance, the Kiwi and his Polish teammate have everything to race for in the final race.
Van der Drift and Kingsford extend perfect Pro-Am campaign
Meanwhile, Chris van der Drift and Todd Kingsford continued their dominant Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season, claiming another Pro-Am class victory and securing the final step of the overall podium.

The pairing had already wrapped up the 2026 Pro-Am championship at the previous round in Shanghai, having won all 10 races contested to that point. Their unbeaten record remained intact in Italy.
Starting second overall alongside teammates Sceats and Wiśniewski, Kingsford lost ground on the hectic opening lap but kept control of the Pro-Am class.
The duo went on to finish third overall behind the two leading Pro-class entries, extending their perfect winning streak to 11 consecutive races.
With the championship already secured, van der Drift and Kingsford will be aiming to complete an unbeaten regional season in the final Asian race before turning their attention to the Lamborghini World Finals.

For Sceats, however, the pressure is firmly on. Just one point separates him and Wiśniewski from the championship leaders, setting up a thrilling conclusion to the Pro title battle at Monza.
Race 2 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia championship takes place on Saturday at 2:30 am NZDT and can be watched live on the official Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.
