We could have two Kiwi champions on hand this weekend, with Brendon Hartley entering the final round of the World Endurance Championship with a healthy lead, as does Callum Hedge in the Formula Regional Americas Championship.

It’s definitely a weekend for endurance racing fans, with our very own Highlands Motorsport Park 10th Anniversary 6-Hour Enduro also getting some great TV coverage.

Throw in the Brazilian Grand Prix, then there’s plenty to watch.

To see what Kiwis are in action and how you can follow, see below.

Brendon Hartley & Earl Bamber: World Endurance Championship 8 Hours of Bahrain

  • Where? Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir, Bahrain
  • NZ Times:
    • Qualifying: Saturday 2.15 am
    • Race: Saturday 11.30 pm
  • How to watch? Sky Sport 5 (race only)

Brendon Hartley and teammates Sebastien Buemi and Ryo Hirakawa enter the final round of the 2023 World Endurance Championship in prime position to win the driver’s title in the 8 Hours of Bahrain, but it’s not mathematically secured yet.

Their sister entry, the #8 of Jose Maria Lopez, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway, sit 15 points behind, while both Ferrari also remain in contention, with the #51 crew 31 points behind and the #50 team 36 in arrears, with a maximum of 39 up for grabs.

Toyota Gazoo Racing secured the Manufacturers Championship last round at Fuji.

Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook join forces for Cadillac Racing and sit fifth on the table

Callum Hedge: Formula Regional Americas Championship

  • Where? Circuit of the Americas, Austin, Texas
  • NZ Times:
    • Race 1: Saturday 3.15 am
    • Race 2: Saturday 8.45 am
    • Race 3: Sunday 3.20 am
  • How to watch? Free live stream (Speedtour YouTube)

Callum Hedge enters the final round of the 2023 Formula Regional Americas Championship with a 51-point lead over Ryan Shehan and can secure the title as early as the opening race at Circuit of the Americas.

Hedge has won 11 of this season’s 15 races, while Shehan has claimed 2 but consistently featured on the podium.

Should he emerge victorious, a massive prize of a US$600,000 scholarship towards a 2024 Super Formula drive awaits.
