KIWIS RACING ABROAD | 3-6 JULY WEEKEND PREVIEW 🏁

It’s another busy weekend for Kiwi drivers and riders competing around the world, with New Zealanders in action across Formula 1, Formula 3, IndyCar, Formula E, NASCAR, USF Pro 2000 and AMA Pro Motocross.

Liam Lawson headlines the weekend as Formula 1 heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Round 9 of the championship takes place at one of the sport’s most famous circuits, with the Kiwi looking to continue his recent run of consistent performances.

Joining him at Silverstone is fellow New Zealander Louis Sharp, who returns for Round 5 of the FIA Formula 3 Championship. The PREMA Racing driver continues his rookie season and will be aiming to keep building momentum as the series reaches the halfway point of the year.

In the United States, the NTT IndyCar Series travels to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Honda Indy 200, the 11th round of the season. Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin and Marcus Armstrong will all be in action as they tackle one of the championship’s most well-known road courses.

Mid-Ohio also hosts Rounds 8, 9 and 10 of the USF Pro 2000 Championship, where Sebastian Manson returns for another busy weekend. Three races across the weekend will give the young Kiwi another opportunity to continue his development in the highly competitive junior category.

Formula E is also back this weekend with a double-header in Shanghai. Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy will both contest Rounds 12 and 13 as the championship enters the final stretch of the season.

Shane van Gisbergen returns to NASCAR Cup Series competition at Chicagoland Speedway for Round 19 of the championship. The Kiwi will be hoping for another strong showing as the series continues its busy summer schedule.

On two wheels, Cole Davies heads to RedBud MX in Michigan for Round 5 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The New Zealander has enjoyed a solid season so far and will be looking to add another strong result at one of motocross’ most iconic venues.

From Silverstone to Shanghai, Mid-Ohio to Chicagoland and RedBud, Kiwi drivers and riders will once again be racing across the globe in another busy weekend of international motorsport.

Check out our detailed weekend preview below for everything you need to know, including session times, how to watch, and who’s racing where. ⬇️

Liam Lawson heads to Silverstone this weekend looking to continue his best run of the Formula 1 season after scoring points for a fourth consecutive race at the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Racing Bulls driver finished ninth at the Red Bull Ring, overcoming an early scare with a suspected fire and high brake temperatures to secure another top-10 finish as the team claimed a third straight double-points result.

The result moved Lawson to 30 championship points and kept him 10th in the drivers’ standings, with Racing Bulls showing encouraging progress following the introduction of a new upgrade package.

Now the focus shifts to the British Grand Prix, where Formula 1 takes on the iconic Silverstone Circuit for Round 9 of the season. It will also be a Sprint weekend, giving Lawson two opportunities to add to his points tally.

With confidence growing and Racing Bulls continuing to make gains, Lawson will be aiming to extend his streak of four consecutive points finishes at one of Formula 1’s most historic venues.

Louis Sharp | Formula 3

Louis Sharp returns to Silverstone this weekend for Round 5 of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, looking to build on a solid weekend last time out in Austria.

The Kiwi showed good race pace at the Red Bull Ring, making up positions in both races to finish 14th in the Sprint Race and 13th in the Feature Race. In Sunday’s feature, Sharp gained six places after avoiding first-lap incidents and steadily working his way through the field.

Now the PREMA Racing driver heads to one of Formula 3’s most iconic circuits as the championship reaches its halfway point. Racing alongside the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Sharp will be aiming to convert his pace into another strong result at Silverstone.

New Zealand’s IndyCar trio return to action this weekend as the series heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Honda Indy 200.

Marcus Armstrong arrives looking to bounce back after one of the toughest races of his IndyCar career at Road America. The Meyer Shank Racing driver looked set to claim his maiden series victory after leading comfortably in the closing stages, only for a late engine failure to end his race with just three laps remaining.

Scott McLaughlin also showed strong pace at Road America, qualifying in the Fast Six before recovering through the field to finish seventh after a challenging race.

For Scott Dixon, it was a frustrating afternoon after poorly timed cautions and a drive-through penalty dropped him down the order. Despite the setbacks, the six-time champion fought back to finish 12th.

The trio will now turn their attention to Mid-Ohio, with Round 11 of the championship marking another opportunity for New Zealand’s IndyCar stars to challenge at the front.

Sebastian Manson | USF Pro 2000 Championship

Sebastian Manson returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend for a busy three-race schedule as the USF Pro 2000 Championship contests Rounds 8, 9 and 10.

The Kiwi heads into the weekend after making progress at Road America, where he finished 15th in Race 1 before breaking into the top 10 with a 10th-place result in Race 2.

With three races on the schedule this weekend, Manson will have plenty of opportunities to continue building on that momentum as he progresses through his rookie USF Pro 2000 campaign.

Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy return to China this weekend as Formula E heads to Shanghai for Rounds 12 and 13 of the championship.

Both Kiwis will be looking for better fortunes after a frustrating Sanya E-Prix, where neither driver reached the finish despite showing promising pace.

Cassidy briefly led the race after climbing through the field from sixth on the grid, but braking issues after the red flag, followed by a pit lane speeding penalty, ended his hopes of a strong result.

Evans was also in the fight near the front before contact with Zane Maloney caused race-ending damage. Despite the DNF, the Jaguar TCS Racing driver remains at the top of the Drivers’ Championship heading into the Shanghai double-header.

With two races on the schedule this weekend, both New Zealanders will be aiming to bounce back and return to the points as the Formula E season enters its final stages.

Shane Van Gisbergen | NASCAR Cup Series

Shane van Gisbergen heads to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend on the back of one of his strongest NASCAR weekends of the season.

The Kiwi completed a clean sweep at Sonoma Raceway, claiming victory in both the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the NASCAR Cup Series.

Van Gisbergen dominated Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race from pole position, leading 62 of the 79 laps to secure his sixth career win in the category. He then backed it up less than 48 hours later with another commanding drive in the Cup Series, charging from sixth on the grid and using smart strategy to claim his second Sonoma Cup victory.

The double triumph lifted van Gisbergen to 14th in the Cup Series standings and further strengthened his place inside the playoff positions.

He now turns his attention to Chicagoland Speedway for Round 19 of the NASCAR Cup Series, looking to carry his winning momentum into another important weekend as the race to the playoffs continues.

Cole Davies returns to AMA Pro Motocross action this weekend as the championship heads to RedBud MX in Michigan for Round 5.

The Kiwi heads into the weekend full of confidence after claiming his first overall victory of the 2026 season at High Point Raceway two weeks ago. Davies topped both qualifying sessions before winning both 250MX motos to complete a perfect 1-1 sweep.

The maximum 50 championship points lifted the teenager to fourth in the standings and marked an impressive return to form after a challenging couple of rounds.

Davies will now look to carry that momentum into RedBud, one of the most iconic stops on the AMA Pro Motocross calendar, as he continues his push towards the front of the 250MX championship.
