MotorSport New Zealand has announced the successful recipients of the first-ever Club Assist Fund, with $50,798.25 awarded to 14 Member Clubs of all sizes across the country to support projects that will strengthen grassroots motorsport.

Launched at the 2026 MotorSport New Zealand Accelerating Car Clubs Conference, the Club Assist Fund was established to help clubs deliver initiatives that grow participation, improve event quality, and build sustainable capability within the sport.
The inaugural funding round focused on projects that would have a tangible impact on the future of motorsport at club level. Successful applications covered a wide range of initiatives, including safety improvements, facility and equipment upgrades, event marketing and promotion, volunteer training, and other projects designed to enhance the experience for competitors, officials, volunteers, and spectators alike.
MotorSport New Zealand President Deborah Day said the response to the new fund demonstrated the passion and ambition that exists within the sport’s volunteer-led clubs.
“Our clubs are the backbone of motorsport in New Zealand, and the Club Assist Fund is about giving them practical support to bring great ideas to life,” said Day.
“We were delighted with both the quality and diversity of the applications received. The successful projects will not only improve events and facilities but also help clubs attract new participants, develop volunteers, and create stronger, more sustainable organisations.
“The Board made a commitment to invest back into our clubs, and it is incredibly rewarding to see that commitment already making a real difference.”
The Club Assist Fund forms part of MotorSport New Zealand’s broader strategic focus on growing participation, supporting volunteers, and strengthening the long-term sustainability of affiliated clubs.
Applications for the second round of Club Assist Fund grants will open on 31 August 2026 and close on 4 October 2026. Member Clubs are encouraged to begin planning projects now that align with the fund’s objectives of growing participation and enhancing the quality of motorsport events.
Further information on the Club Assist Fund, including eligibility criteria and application details, will be available through MotorSport New Zealand ahead of the next funding round.
