Bubba Wallace abruptly quit the eNascar Pro Invitational Series race on Monday morning. This didn’t sit well with one of his sponsors.
After having already used up his two fast-repair “resets” in the first 10 laps on the race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Wallace got tangled up with Clint Bowyer, which caused extensive damage to the No. 43.
As a result, Wallace elected to quit the race rather than drive the remainder of the 150-lap event.
“Ya’ll have a good one,” said Wallace on his Twitch live stream. “That’s why I don’t take this **** serious. Peace out!”.
While Wallace did not deem his departure to be of a serious nature, Blue Emu – sponsor of Wallace in the race, and long-standing partner of Richard Petty Motorsports – were less-than-impressed over Wallace’s actions.
In reply to Wallace’s tweet, Blu Emu responded “GTK where you stand. Bye bye Bubba. We’re interested in drivers, not quitters.”
Drivers are not required to partake in these events, however some sponsorships agreements between drivers and sponsors are in place, while other go through teams.
Richard Petty Motorsports has not yet released an official comment regarding the incident.
