Kiwi motorsport fans can breathe a sigh of relief: New Zealand TV coverage of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season will continue free-to-air on ThreeNow.

This means fans can follow Kiwi NASCAR Cup Series driver Shane Van Gisbergen in his second full-time season without needing a paid subscription. The announcement comes after concerns arose following Sky TV’s acquisition of ThreeNow/Discovery last year, which had raised the possibility of coverage moving behind a paywall on Sky Sports.
Van Gisbergen, who made a sensational full-time debut in the series last year, will once again be the focus for Kiwi fans cheering on their hometown hero as he battles the world’s top drivers in NASCAR’s premier category.
“Apologies for keeping you all in suspense. We’re really pleased to confirm that coverage of NASCAR in 2026 will continue free-to-air on ThreeNow, commencing with the Cook Out Clash this weekend,” said a spokesperson from Sky.
With the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season set to kick off this weekend, ThreeNow ensures that all fans can watch the thrills, spills, and high-speed action without interruption.

Thanks for this information. This is great news for those of us who cannot afford pay tv! Any news on MotoGP?
Awaiting a response in regards to this.
I can’t find it on ThreeNow, zero results for “nascar” search and nothing in sports!!
Hi Karyn. That’s because Nascar has been postponed until Thursday at 12pm. It will be live on ThreeNow and then uploaded on demand a few hours later, which is when NASCAR will be searchable and appear under their sports category.
Been delayed till Wednesday, Thursday for us, cause of the snow and cold.
Drivers fine in the car, but officials, pit crew’s and spectators will freeze.
