Rare Quinn-owned Aston Martin Vulcan to be demonstrated at Bathurst

Tony Quinn’s Aston Martin Vulcan will make the journey from Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell to Mount Panorama in Australia to be demonstrated at the 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour.

The ultra-low run, track-only Supercar developed by the iconic English brand in 2015 – will be on show at the 2025 event next February, both on and off the track.

Quinn’s car was purchased in 2016 and is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Based at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell, the Vulcan is seldom used and rarely seen outside of New Zealand, making its 12-Hour appearance even more special.

Launched as something of a tribute to the iconic Le Mans 24 Hour race, only 24 Vulcans were ever made. Powered by an 800hp, 7-litre V12 engine, the car had a top speed of well over 330km/hr.

It will join another collection of exciting and outstanding machinery to feature in the demonstration sessions across the event, elements which have become a hugely popular part of the weekend.

Previous demonstration runs have included Liam Lawson in a Red Bull Formula 1 Car, Luke Youlden lapping the Brabham BT62 while 2024 featured both the iconic Ford Supervan and an unrestricted, special-edition Mercedes-AMG GT3 car.

The Vulcan’s addition to the event comes as Quinn launches the updated and expanded edition of his 2016 autobiography, Zero to 60.

Now running to a hefty 416 pages, the updated version of the book uses Quinn’s knack for a ‘gift of the gab’ to detail his life story, from VIP Petfoods, his driving career to his expanding Motor Racing empire, which includes key New Zealand and Australian circuits, plus a stake in Triple Eight Race Engineering.

“As Zero to 60 demonstrates so well, Tony’s story and impact in both the sport and business is remarkable, so it’s great we can celebrate that at the event this year,” said Bathurst 123 Hour Event Director, Shane Rudzis

“I’ve had the pleasure of seeing – and hearing – the Vulcan run once before and it’s an incredible thing, the noise is phenomenal and it looks awesome. It’s really going to add something special to our demonstration sessions this year, which will once again have some truly unique, exciting and superb cars and drivers involved for the entertainment of our fans at the event.”

Quinn will steer the Vulcan at Bathurst, and will be on hand to sign copies of his book, which will be available to purchase at the event.

Entries for the 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour continue to be announced.

Kiwi GT star Brendon Leitch was announced as a competitor earlier this month, joining ony D’Alberto, Grant Denyer and car owner Adrian Deitz in Wall Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.

Other confirmed competitors include Arise Racing GT’s two Ferrari 296 GT3s, one of which was shared by Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte in the 2024 GT World Challenge Australia.

Supercars legend Craig Lowndes joins current Tickford Racing stars Cameron Waters and Thomas Randle aboard Scott Taylor Motorsport’s STM Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Supercars champion Will Brown has confirmed he is competing, but an announcement as to who for has yet to be made. Brown will compete in the first two rounds of the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship in New Zealand before heading to Bathurst and then returning back across the Tasman to compete in the 69th New Zealand Grand Prix.

The 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour takes place on January 31- February 2 next year.
