Revised Road to Indy schedule revealed

The Indy Pro 2000 and USF2000 championships are set to feature 18 rounds each in 2020 in the revised scheduled issued earlier today.

The news comes after the announcement of the cancellation of the 2020 Indy Lights season due to various factors.

IndyCar promoter Dan Andersen has completed a heavily-revised schedule for both Indy Pro 2000 and USF2000, which now sees standalone events at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 29-30 and Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on September 3-4.

Andersen said the schedule required extensive manoeuvring, though it now ensures the Road to Indy series’ can go ahead for the 2020 season.

“It took some manoeuvring, but I am happy to be able to provide our teams and drivers with a full schedule of 18 races in these challenging times and I want to thank everyone for their patience. Our Spring Training 2.0 at Mid-Ohio at the end of this month will be a chance to shake off some cobwebs and prepare for our season-opener at Road America.

“Like many racing series, it really will be non-stop once we hit July and all of us are excited to return to the track and showcase the talented drivers, we have in these two series.

“Following confirmation of the two standalone events, we are working with our promoter partners on the details which will be announced soon.”

New Zealander Hunter McElrea competes in the Indy Pro 2000 series with Pabst Racing after having enjoyed a successful campaign in USF2000 the previous season.
