The McLaren GT3 650S being shared by Glenn Smith and John De Veth will start on pole for this afternoon’s Golden Homes North Island Endurance Series 3-Hour in Taupo.
Second spot on the grid belongs to championship leaders and defending national champions Jonny Reid and Sam Fillmore (Audi R8 LMS Evo 2), their best time of 1:25.870 nearly one second off the blistering 1:24.933 set by the pole-sitters.
Paul and Ant Pedersen (Mercedes AMG GT3) will start off the second row, with the Wolfbrook’s newly-acquired Audi R8 GT3 qualifying .073 seconds behind. Less than two-tenths of a second separates positions two through four.
Fifth-placed Heremana Malmezac and Jono Lester Porsche 991.2 Cup MR got the nod over their teammates or Francois Beziac and Tom Alexander, with the Nissan GTR of Lance Hughes and Chris van der Drift separating the team by qualifying sixth.
The Mercedes AMG GT4 of Breanna Morris and Christina Orr-West was an unfortunate withdrawal from the event, engine issues forcing them to pull the plug on their march towards Am/Am honours.
The Golden Homes North Island Endurance Series 3-Hour begins at 1.00 pm.
