Shane van Gisbergen has completed a clean-sweep in the final Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series, but it was Joel Heinrich victorious in the overall title after the season finale at Highlands Motorsport Park.

After an early domination of the season, Heinrich secured the crown with seventh in the final race driving the Osborn’s Transport entry to add a second Aussie Racing Cars Super Series title.

The winner in 2018, Heinrich was the class of the field during the first half and was able to consolidate at Townsville and Highlands Motorsport Park.

Shell Rimula Topgun Race Team’s Cody Brewczynski missed a round, but has since returned to win in Townsville and challenge van Gisbergen during all four races at Highlands Motorsport Park to end the season on a high.

Brewczynski finished second from Reece Chapman and reigning series winner Josh Anderson as the two CoolDrive-supported drivers were unable to bridge the margin to Heinrich despite a consistent run at Highlands.

An impressive run by Rookie Cup winner Nathan Williams delivered fifth from the overall season winner Brandon Madden, who was a star performer since joining the Aussie Racing Cars Super Series at Queensland Raceway to take a win on debut.

Heinrich was seventh from Gold Cup winner Scott Dornan, previous champion Darren Chamberlin and Sheridan Phillips. A close battle for overall Gold Cup honours fell in favour of Phillips.

Kent Quinn, in the second Norganic Proteins entry just missed the top 10, but secured the Masters Cup.

Aussie Racing Cars Super Series champion Heinrich was thrilled to pick up another title.

“It was an awesome year, awesome round,” said Heinrich.

“Absolutely stoked with the year, it was smooth sailing at the start and brought it home in the end, so I can’t wait to go again next year.

“It was a big build up from the start of the year. Getting a couple of wins early really set us up for the back end. The last couple of events were tough, we had a shocker in the last round where we had a couple of mechanical problems and crashed out.

“This weekend was just about trying to consolidate, but it’s been a whole year’s effort and tireless as with the rounds back-to-back it was just so busy.

“I’m so glad we got there in the end.”
