Shane van Gisbergen will start tomorrow’s Xfinity Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway from 28th after qualifying was rained out.
With no track action for the series on Friday local time, the grid is set by the qualifying metric, with Cole Custer to start from the pole alongside Chandler Smith.
The four-variable metric is calculated based on the driver’s points, owner’s points, most recent race result, and most recent fastest lap.
Sam Mayer and Riley Herbst complete Row 2, ahead of Sheldon Creed and Sammy Smith on Row 3, Corey Heim and Parker Kligerman on Row 4 and Ryan Sieg and Matt DiBenedetto, who complete the top ten.
Josh Williams will start as the first of the three-strong Kaulig Racing lineup in 17th, while AJ Allmendinger will line up in 22nd.
NASCAR Cup stars Christopher Bell and Alex Bowman are running double duties and will start 23rd and 37th, respectively.
Rain in the area, with more forecasted, has already caused one schedule change on the programme, with the Whelen Modified Tour brought forward from 6.40 pm ET on Saturday to 10.00 am ET that morning.
According to The Weather Channel, there is an 86 per cent chance of thunderstorms and further rain tomorrow. Sunday’s NASCAR Cup USA Today 301 is also threatened by a forecasted 73 per cent chance of thunderstorms.
Last year’s NASCAR Cup outing in New Hampshire was postponed until Monday because of weather.
The earlier practice session was also rained out, meaning van Gisbergen faces the daunting prospect of his first time on the track coming in the race.
The Xfinity Series race is set to begin at 7.30 am (NZST) on Sunday morning, but this may change due to the forecasted conditions.
The race will be broadcast live on Three Now.
