Tony Quinn Foundation Ambassador Zack Scoular set for Eurocup-3 debut

Fresh off an impressive runner-up finish in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship (CTFROC), Tony Quinn Foundation Ambassador Zack Scoular is eagerly anticipating his debut in the Eurocup-3 series.

The young Kiwi driver made an immediate impression in CTFROC over the summer, securing pole position and a win in his first race on his way to finishing second in the standings. Now, he’s taking his talents to Europe, ready to tackle the challenges of Eurocup-3.

Scoular believes his experience in CTFROC has provided a solid foundation for his Eurocup-3 campaign.

“I am extremely proud of what I was able to achieve in CTFROC, and to be able to do it at home was extra special. The grid was extremely strong, so I definitely proved myself against the best. Heading into Europe, it has shown that I have the potential and ability to be at the front.”

The announcement of Scoular joining Palou Motorsport for the 2025 Eurocup-3 season came shortly after the CTFROC season finale at Highlands Motorsport Park in early February. This move marks a significant step for the young Kiwi, who has primarily raced in New Zealand throughout his junior career.

Scoular explained his attraction to the series, emphasizing its focus on driver development.

“We decided on Eurocup-3 because it is where I will be able to learn the most. The grid is the strongest in Europe outside of FIA Formula 3, so it is definitely a place where I can grow and develop as a driver.”

Palou Motorsport, which Scoular is joining for the 2025 season, is a relatively new team founded and owned by three-time IndyCar Champion Alex Palou. Scoular feels he is already integrating well with the team.

“The vibe with Palou Motorsport has been great, and I’ve been settling in very well. The ethos of the team is built around ‘family’. The team has the passion to win. Palou makes himself personally available to help coach and develop the drivers. I’ve really enjoyed working with Alex and the team and look forward to the year ahead.”

Having already participated in the final two rounds of the Winter Series, Scoular has gained valuable experience in the Eurocup-3 car — though he noted the challenges in adapting to the Tatuus F3 T-318.

“The Eurocup-3 car has definitely taken a lot of adjusting to after coming out of CTFROC. This has included learning how to use ‘push to pass’, adjusting to more downforce, racing on Grade 1 Formula 1 tracks, and driving on a different tire.

I am really enjoying the characteristics of the Eurocup-3 car and the championship. The tracks are awesome.”

With the season opener just six weeks away, Scoular is focused on maximizing his preparation for the upcoming season.

“In the next few weeks, I have more testing. After that, it will be time spent on the simulator with my driver coach, gym, bike riding, paddle — while also managing school and exam preparation.”

Scoular also acknowledged the crucial support he has received throughout his journey so far.

“The Tony Quinn Foundation has provided phenomenal support. Obviously, there’s the financial side — but the support, advice, and coaching from Tony, Josie, Daniel, Greg, John, and Steve has been invaluable.

They generously provide their time to help me grow and learn. I am proud to be associated with, and an ambassador of, the Tony Quinn Foundation.”

Scoular’s Eurocup-3 campaign is scheduled to begin at the Red Bull Ring on May 16–18, followed by a race at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal three weeks later.
