Wood & Coulthard pairing announced for Supercars enduros

Walkinshaw Andretti United has confirmed Supercars veterans Lee Holdsworth and Fabian Coulthard will join the team for this season’s Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.

Holdsworth will re-join two-time champion Chaz Mostert for the enduros, with the duo having won the 2021 Bathurst 1000 together.

Coulthard, who finished runner-up in 2022 with Mostert, joins rookie Ryan Wood to make for an all-Kiwi lineup in the #02 Mustang. It will be Wood’s first Bathurst 1000.

“I’ll be spending a lot of time with the team and Ryan this year,” said Coulthard.

“We have already hit the ground running together, but it will be really important to make sure we gel together as much as possible coming into Sandown and Bathurst.

“The team have done an awesome job getting these cars ready, they look incredible, I’m looking forward to seeing how the cars have evolved over the summer break.”

Walkinshaw Andretti United CEO Bruce Stewart added, “We are absolutely rapt to have both Fabian and Lee back on board with the team again in 2024.

“There is no doubt the calibre of these drivers puts us in a really strong position alongside Ryan and Chaz come endurance season.

“Both Lee and Fabian recognise the path we are on as a team and want to be a part of that, they fit in to our culture very well — so we are really lucky to have them.

The Kiwi pairing comes one year after compatriots Shane van Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway teamed up for victory in the Bathurst 1000, which was just the second time in the event’s history a New Zealand lineup claimed honours, behind only Greg Murphy and Steven Richard’s 1999 effort.

The Sandown 500 takes place on September 2022, with the Bathurst 1000 on October 10-13.

The Supercars season begins with the Bathurst 500 later this month, on February 23-25.
