The 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed is just around the corner and this year is shaping up to be a big one for new car reveals and debuts.

Not only that but it’s also a special occasion for the event itself which will celebrate its 30th year of running alongside the 75th birthday of the estate.

The star brand for 2023 is Porsche which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, meaning we will see a few of the German carmaker’s models take centre stage in front of Goodwood House. It will also show off a few new cars too.

A whole host of automobilia will be taking to the hillclimb including modern and historic racers, trucks, and of course, a heap of new road cars. Without further ado, here’s a list of all the new models we could find that will make their debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Alpine A290

Attendees at Goodwood this year will be among the first audience in the world to see Alpine’s first hot hatch based on the upcoming electric Renault 5, the A290.

BMW 5 Series

The eighth-generation BMW 5 Series will take to the hillclimb this weekend, alongside its fully electric i5 sibling. BMW has also confirmed the model will eventually appear in M5 guise, alongside a Touring variant, but we don’t yet know if the two will be revealed at Goodwood.

Caterham Seven EV

Caterham is beginning to dip its toes into electrification after solely producing lightweight petrol-powered cars for the entirety of the brand’s life. Now comes its first take on an electric car, the Seven EV, weighing in at 700kg.

There are no plans to put the car into production but we will be able to see it in action at the Festival of Speed this year.

Caterham Project V

Another unexpected model from Caterham is its upcoming Project V which also features a fully electric powertrain which is set to hit the market in the coming years.

The electric sportscar marks a radical shift for the British carmaker as it ushers in a completely new design language that is expected to be used on many of its future models.

Ford Explorer EV

Ford is ramping up its electrification strategy for Europe, and to start the American brand’s journey off right, it has unveiled the Explorer EV which is based on the electric Volkswagen MEB platform.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Another new electric hot hatch that will be present at this year’s event is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which is set to be unveiled in full come this weekend.

We’ve been drip-fed information about the car over the past few months with features such as its synthetic engine sound and simulated gear shift peaking our interest in the upcoming model.

Ineos Grenadier FCEV and Quatermaster

A fuel cell-powered EV version of the Ineos Grenadier is slated to make its debut at Goodwood, alongside the brand’s new Quatermaster ute which may interest a few Kiwis before the model goes on sale locally sometime later this year.

Kia EV9

Kia’s new electric flagship SUV, the EV9, will be shown in the flesh for the first time this coming weekend, introducing us to a fresh design for the brand along with a plethora of new technology.

Lamborghini LMDh

Lamborghini is planning to hold the global premiere of its new LMDh prototype race car at Goodwood this year, in addition to the brand’s 60th-anniversary celebration.

The new car will compete in the Hypercar class of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup.

McMurtry Spéirling Pure

One car that’s no stranger to the Goodwood hillclimb is the McMurtry Spéirling, as it set the fastest time ever recorded at the event just last year.

Now comes the Pure which has been optimised and could potentially blow the previous model out of the water. Oh, and McMurtry plans to sell 100 of them to the public.

MG 4 XPower

A hotted-up version of the MG 4 is set to make its debut at Goodwood and it’ll be sure to impress thanks to its supercar-like 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 3.8 seconds.

MG EX4

MG is set to unveil its new fully electric EX4 concept at Goodwood, taking its inspiration from the Metro 6R4 Group B rally car.

Not much is known about the EX4 at this stage, but if its unapologetically green and angular appearance has anything to say about it, we’re hyped.

MG Cyberster

The MG Cyberster will be the third model from the brand to make its global debut at Goodwood this weekend, allowing attendees to get up close and personal with the fully electric roadster before it hits the showroom floor.

“We are absolutely delighted that MG Motor UK will be returning to Goodwood this summer and honoured that it has chosen the Festival of Speed to host the global debut for the MG Cyberster,” said the Duke of Richmond, founder of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Porsche Mission X

While it was designed to break Nürburgring lap records, Porsche will debut its 75th birthday present to itself, the Mission X, at the Festival of Speed where it could give a majority of the paddock a good run for its money.

Porsche 718 Boxter Spyder RS

Another blisteringly quick car Porsche plans to debut this weekend is the 718 Boxter Spyder RS, the most powerful roadster it has ever created.

Porsche Cayenne

Rounding out the new Porsche debuts that we know of will be the newly-updated Cayenne SUV, which will show off its updated powertrain, chassis, and technology.

McLaren 750S

McLaren will present the lightest and most powerful car it has put into series production to the public this weekend, the 750S.

The British carmaker says the new model “defines a new benchmark for supercar performance and driver exhilaration.” So we can expect big things when it races off the start line.

Singer DLS Turbo

Singer recently unveiled its latest restomod creation that was inspired by the Porsche 934/5 of old, dubbing it the DLS Turbo.

There’s no doubt many Goodwood-goers will be rushing to get a glimpse and have a listen to this car make its public debut up the hill.

Honourable mentions

A few lesser-known cars will also make their debut at this year’s event, including models like the Aim EV Sport 01, Czinger Hyper GT, Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept, HiPhi Z and Y, the Mini Aceman concept car and the Nio ET5.

Roll on the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed which gets underway this Thursday, 13 July and will run until Sunday, 16 July.
