Reigning New Zealand Formula Ford champion Billy Frazer and MotorSport NZ Elite Academy graduate Connor Adam have confirmed their partnership for the upcoming Toyota 86 endurance series.

The two-round mini-endurance championship sees regular Toyota 86 competitors team up with a series rookie or young-gun in four one-hour races around Hampton Downs and Pukekohe.

21-year-old Adam has just come out of his fourth season in the 86 class where he finished fourth in the standings.

He is also exploring multiple GT options for next year, following on from his dominant drive at Taupo in his Pirelli Porsche debut where he was guided under the wing of Kiwi sportscar ace Will Bamber.

Adam will be teamed with rising single-seater star Frazer. The 18-year-old has been pedalling everything from Toyota Racing Series cars to historic Formula Fords over the last month. Last weekend he also got to experience a taste of the 86 car in the official test day at Hampton Downs.

“Pairing up with Billy will make us strong contenders,” said Adam. “He had a great past season, so I am really excited to move into this with him as my teammate and co-driver.”

Frazer also added his excitement for the series which will be his first-ever time racing a tin top.

“I am really stoked to be partnering with Connor for the upcoming Toyota 86 Endurance series,” Frazer said.

“It will be a great experience for me, and I am looking forward to racing a car with doors and a roof for the first time.

“Connor’s experience in the series will be invaluable to me and am really looking forward to getting out on track.”

The other big driver pairing already announcement is the pairing of Christina Orr-West and Rowan Shepherd in the Dayle ITM Racing entry.

The four-race series also offers a significant prize package for the winning combination. Drivers will receive $10,000 towards an entry in the 2021 Best Bars Toyota 86 Sprint championship.

The first round will be at Hampton Downs over October 30-31 with the final two races held at Pukekohe Park on December 4-6.
