IndyCar announces 2025 calendar

IndyCar has announced its calendar for the 2025 season, which sees all tracks on the 2024 schedule remaining and no new additions.

The Thermal Club remains on the programme but as a championship round, in contrast to the non-points $1 Millon Challenge, which ran in March this year.

The season will begin on the Streets of St. Petersburg, as it has in most years since 2009. The Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway will conclude the season as it will in 2024.

Seventeen events remain as championship rounds, with the Milwaukee Mile dropping to a single race rather than a double-header following the addition of the Thermal Club outing.

The season starts one week earlier, on March 2, and finishes two weeks earlier, on August 31.

The opening six rounds remain the same: St. Peterburg and The Thermal Club are followed by the Grand Prix of Long Beach (April 13), Barber Motorsports Park (May 4), the Indianapolis Road Course (May 10), the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 (May 25), and the Streets of Detroit (June 1).

World Wide Technology Raceway’s round comes forward a month to June 15 and is followed by Road America (June 22), Mid-Ohio (July 6) and a double-header at Iowa Speedway (July 12-13)

The season concludes with rounds in Toronto (July 20), Laguna Seca (July 27), Portland (August 10), Milwaukee (August 24), and Nashville (August 31).

The schedule announcement coincided with the news of a new free-to-air partnership with American broadcaster Fox.

As a result of the deal, IndyCar becomes the only premier motorsport in the United States with exclusive major broadcast network coverage for all its races.

The broadcast deal includes Indy NXT, which means the majority of the second-tier series’ races will be broadcast on live television.
