Powerful Hedge takes second pole of weekend

Callum Hedge continues to build in the Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship and has claimed his second pole position of the weekend.

He’ll start alongside American David Morales once again whilst Charlie Wurz will also repeat yesterday’s starting position from third.

New Zealander Liam Sceats also put in a superb performance and will start off the second row from fourth.

The session belonged to Hedge, however, who was the only driver who set a time in the 1:27s. Such was his consistency, he did it three times.

As the first category on track for the day, the field all went about putting some laps down to get a feel of the conditions before times started to tumble.

Sceats was the first to go into the 1:28s before being topped by Wurz and then Hedge who went quicker.

Yesterday’s race winner then went about putting a monster lap down to go into the 1:27s to put over half a second on the field with just minutes remaining.

Morales, Ryder Quinn and Jacob Abel were also throwing down fast laps in the midfield, Abel getting ahead of Sceats briefly for third but the Kiwi regaining his spot just moments later.

Josh Mason also worked his way onto the third row late in the session to go sixth fastest, whilst Morales worked his way onto the front row on his final lap to relegate Wurz to the second row, as was the case yesterday.

Fellow Kiwis James Penrose and Breanna Morris will start 11th and 13th respectively.

The first Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship race of the day is at 1.05pm (18 laps) whilst the Dorothy Smith Memorial Cup race follows at 4.10pm (23 laps).
