Manfeild loses NIERDC grand final

NIERDC has announced a date and venue change for the third and final round of their NZ Endurance Championship Series, citing Manfeild’s management’s inability to secure a change to their extremely limited noise resource consent.

The third round will now be run on the Hampton Downs International Circuit.

“We are very grateful to Josie Spillane, CEO of the three Tony Quinn-owned race circuits, for assisting us at short notice and providing us with exclusive use of the rarely-used International race circuit on the 15th of June for our Grand Final,” said Chairman of the North Island Endurance Racing Drivers Club Mark Petch.

“Unfortunately, it appears that Manfeild’s Circuit Amon cannot and will not be able to add any further 95 Db race days than they currently have, which means that unless an existing hireage party vacates their historical rights, NIERDC will not be able to return to Manfeild in the foreseeable future.”

Entries for this year’s NIERDC series will open on the 1st of March, 2024. Meanwhile, expressions of interest can be lodged at https://www.nierdc.com/

Membership applications can also be completed through the attached link.

For all enquiries, contact Gary Lathrope, +64-27-452-2991.

The confirmed race dates for the 2024 Golden Homes North Island Endurance Championship are as follows:

Round 1Saturday, May 4Hampton Downs National Circuit
Round 2Saturday, May 25Taupo International Motorsport Park
Round 3Saturday, June 15Hampton Downs International Circuit

If you lived in Feilding you would see the councils point. Its surprisingly noisy and in the past the locals put up with it as it brought people to the town. But now Manfeild gets hardly any spectators so a long distance race with no let up all day is going to be a hard sell to the residents.

The track was built way too close to the town – you can see why TQ hasn’t bought it!

It is such a shame to hear people complaining about Manfield which was built back in the 1970s, it is an iconic feature of Feilding and unless you lived here prior to its build then personally I wonder what right does one have to complain. Its like buying a property by an existing airport and then ‘bitching’ about the noise, my humble opinion only but I’ve been here since 1983 and accept its a part of the Feilding landscape.

I wonder if motel owners pushed the issue and left it to manfeild owners who could be them

Typical, people choose to live near a noise producing facility (race track, airport, etc) and then complain about the noise! Most of us choose to live here and accept the consequences, for those who don’t like, leave!
